Reflections

We have summited this tour and are now heading back south. Every city we stopped in on the way up got more and more icy. (Note to self: save cold cities for the summer.)
It's interesting when your touring and playing in a different city every night, there are layers upon layers of experience to tap into. Each stage offers a different energy, each city a different flavor and everything seems sped up like we've taken a quantum leap into the creative realm. I feel completely away from the world and yet more in it at the same time.
The Northwest is as beautiful as I remember it and I reminisced about my days of street performing in Capitol Hill. Last time, I arrived completely busted, spent my last $20 on some fire engine red hair dye and banked a couple hundred while the scent of fresh flowers drifted from the shop on the corner.
I miss this. Once I return to SD, I know my wanderlust will be only mildly appeased. I fantasize about going to Europe, Japan, hitting the coast again in the spring.....something's gotta give though. Savings tapped, nowhere else to borrow dough from, credit cards maxed...the life of a musician is not without great material sacrifice until you reach a certain point. Driven by passion, determination, I cannot give up. I've come this far and the sheer fact there is so much more to do curbs my doubt when it sneaks in and gives me strength when I feel depleted and impatient.
Amazing show in Seattle at The Columbia City theatre. Built in 1919, I could feel the ghosts of shows past whirling around the room as I played. They have a recording studio on site, so I had the set recorded and will take the trax home to mix.
Onto George Fox University now for a show on campus.....luckily another warm place to stay since our generator has been completely unreliable.
